Am I ovulating?
Most of us know how regular our cycle is by tracking menstrual period. But how many women actually know whether or not they ovulate? Because it’s quite common to have anovulatory cycles.
When we ovulate, the egg is released from our ovary to be fertilized. The emptied egg sac becomes a gland (corpus luteum) that will produce our body progesterone for the duration of the luteal phase - ideally 11-14 days.
This gland develops rapidly in 24 hours, and has a very high need for energy, vitamins, minerals, protein and fat.
To name a few of the needed nutrients, think Vitamins A,E,D,K,B,C as well as minerals like Copper, Zinc, Magnesium, Selenium, Potassium.
Healthy ovulation=optimal progesterone level= benefits for our overall metabolic health.
Improving progesterone production starts with:
1.Balancing blood sugar by eating balanced meals of protein, carbs and fat on a consistent basis throughout the day
2.Focusing on nutrient dense foods
3.Managing stress. Consider work stress, relationships, exercise- both too little and too much, sleep and light.
Stay healthy and nourished,
