Estrogen Dominance

It’s actually exactly what it sounds like: an excess of estrogen in your body! Or an excess of estrogen in relation to progesterone.

This is probably the most common imbalance I see, and it can affect women of all ages.

So let’s get something clear- you need estrogen, just not too much.

What causes the increase in estrogen:

•environmental toxins from toxic beauty products...

•food stored in BPA, bottled water, cooking with Teflon… 🥤🍳

•poor diet and inflammation 🍕🍟🍔 🥯

•hormonal birth control 💊

•chronic stress 😬

•gut health 🤢

•alcohol 🍹

•poor liver health

All of those 👆 can lead to these 👇:

•painful and heavy periods/ PMS ⚡️

•irregular cycles and decreased libido

•chronic fatigue and headaches😰

•insomnia 😳

•mood swings/ anxiety/ depression 😖

•bloating and weight gain especially around your thighs and butt

Although Estrogen Dominance can make you feel miserable, the good news is that you can correct it.

If you’re struggling with any of those symptoms, it’s a high probability you’re Estrogen Dominant.

By implementing a few things you can balance your hormones and help your liver detox that excess estrogen:

•ditch the toxic beauty products. Avoid fragrances, parabens, phthalates. Switch to non-toxic brands like Beautycounter (link in Bio) or 100% Pure

•help your liver remove the excess hormones easier by always eating enough protein and keeping your blood sugar steady by eating every 3-4 hours

•fix your gut issues and poop daily 💩.  If your liver gets that estrogen ready to be moved out but you’re not pooping, guess what… it will enter your circulation again 🔂 😳

•get >7hrs of sleep EVERY...SINGLE...NIGHT 😴 - and remember to turn off all screens 2 hours before bed

•stress less: whatever that means to you: meditate, deep breathe, take a walk or a nap, long relaxing bath, massage. Anything to reduce the stress

•opt for glass food storage containers and packages.  Try to buy as many products packaged in glass as opposed to plastic ♳

•limit alcohol as alcohol can have estrogenic effects in the body ❌🍸🍷 - one drink can increase estrogen by as much as 10 percent

These strategies will help you achieve optimal hormone balance.

Stay nourished and healthy,
