Minerals run the show
Minerals are the spark plugs of life! They are necessary to support literally all reactions in the body. For example the organs that make up our endocrine system- such as the thyroid, ovaries, pituitary, adrenal glands- all depend upon minerals for optimal function. Every cell of these organs has enzymes that require mineral and nutrient cofactors in order to function.
Additionally, minerals- along with vitamins and cholesterol- are the building blocks of our hormones. Without these, we cannot make adequate hormones.
Other important mineral actions are:
-make energy
-support digestion
-regulate blood pressure and blood pH
-regulate blood sugar
-support fluid balance
-bone health
-support our immune response
-support our nervous system & many, many more!
So you might be wondering why our minerals are so dysregulated in the first place. And it has simply been a gradual process with many aspects of our lives changing over time.
I know this is not what you want to hear but the most impactful aspect is stress, with its increased need for nutrients and minerals. We go through our stores at an increased rate during the times of stress, and if we’re not mindfully replenishing those lost minerals, we can find ourselves severely depleted.
Poor agricultural practices, causing our soils to contain minimal amounts of necessary minerals, result in poor quality food with only a fraction of needed minerals. Most crops are heavily sprayed with herbicides and insecticides, which residues can contribute to this mineral depletion.
In addition, our food choices are very poor in mineral-rich foods. Organ meats, shellfish and others are less and less available or reached for in average kitchens. Even fruits are considered by some to be unhealthy due to fructose content but can be a great source of minerals. Widespread impaired digestion can also limit the amount of minerals that we can fully utilize.
The majority of foods we rely on are highly processed, devoid of minerals and contain a slew of additives that can block absorption or even deplete our bodies of our minerals.
Women are particularly at risk for losing minerals, as during pregnancy a large portion of the mother’s stores is passed onto the baby. This means that if you’re not minerally preparing for a pregnancy, you will be unbalanced. HTMA can help you see your mineral status most accurately, and is included in my Foundational Healing Package.
You should also consider hidden infections, parasites, mold etc., as those too impact your mineral resources.
