Your liver - an unsung hero for your hormones
A properly functioning liver is the foundation of our digestion, metabolism and hormone health and many of us are struggling with this one.
Liver support is not a monthly or annual task. And believe it or not you don’t need any fancy detox. You can do simple daily tasks to support it.
Because your liver truly is a hero. It performs over 500 vital functions in the body. Talk about multi-tasking. Some of this includes storing of Vitamin A, D, E, K, conversion of thyroid hormone T4 to T3, it helps remove toxins, excess hormones and endotoxins!
But when things go bad you can suffer with PMS, low energy, cravings, constipation, hair loss or acne.
You get there by fearing saturated fats like butter, whole eggs and red meat. You may also have some iron overload from consuming iron fortified foods for years, taking iron supplements and even taking zinc and vitamin D. But blood sugar dysregulation, undereating and not properly pairing foods, as well as not getting enough protein in are all big contributors.
So let’s keep it Simple and Sweet:
EAT plenty of quality bioavailable protein (grass fed beef and organs, eggs, shellfish, fish)
ENJOY lots of easily digestible carbs like fruits, roots and squashes.
NOURISH enough. Eat frequently to support blood sugar (eat upon waking and every 3 to 4 hours)
BALANCE your meals with carbs, protein and plenty of fat.
DON’T BE SCARED of saturated fat like butter, tallow, coconut oil
And if you’re feeling you have the foundations down but need additional support, consider these:
-Castor oil packs
-Dandelion or milk thistle tea
-Address Iron Overload
Try these and let me know how you feel!
Stay healthy and nourished,
